Buffalo Bisons vs Columbus Clippers (Win 5-2)

This pitchers duel turned into a late inning nail bitter.  Randy Wolf Spins another gem and set the pace for the start of the game.  He tossed 7 solid innings while scattering 7 hits and 3 walks.  He was able to strike out 7 Clippers also.  As Wolf’s dominance continued though the bats were asleep.  TJ House of the clippers pitched 5 innings of 4 hit ball to keep the game close.

Finally in the 8th inning the Herd struck for a pair of runs.  After the Clippers kept pace in the bottom of the inning and tied it at 2 the Bisons came to the plate.  After a Chris Dickerson single and a Brad Glenn walk Kevin Nolan came up.  He had pinch ran for Luke Scott earlier and scored.  Nolan was just called up from Double-A prior to the game and decided to take advantage of the situation.  Nolan got his pitch and cracked a 3-run homer.  The lead would hold and in the 9th as Colt Hynes picked up his first save of the season.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats vs Reading Fightin Phils (Loss 0-4)

The Cats got shut out on a solid pitching performance by Aaron Nola of the Phils.  The offense just could not find a way to get on base all night.  The Cat offense only collected 5 hits and added 2 walks.  Out of those 5 hits Jorge Flores and Ian Parmley collected 4 of them.  It is really hard to score any runs when only two people can scrap together hits.  Dwight Smith Jr. was able to collect 2 walks but there just was not enough going on at the plate Wednesday night.

Joel Pineiro only allowed 6 hits but they were very timely ones.  The Phils struck at just the right times in the 4th and 7th innings to gather 4 runs off Pineiro.  Those hits included a homer run by Brock Stassi.

Line of the night

Jorge Flores 2-3 with a stolen base

Dunedin Blue Jays vs Tampa Yankees (Win 6-5)

A night full of expectations in Dunedin ended in a win.  Jeff Hoffman made his professional debut Wednesday now that he has recovered from Tommy John surgery.  Hoffman got off to a good start with a shut out first inning but then derailed in the second.  Hoffman allowed 4 runs in the second and that included a 2 run homer to Kyle Higashoika.  Hoffman stayed on the mound for another 3 innings and did not allow another run after the 4 run 2nd inning.  Jeremy Gabryszwski kept the D-Jays in the game by pitching a solid 4 innings in relief.  He allowed only a home run to Abiatal Avelino and struck out 7.  Offensively the D-Jays scattered 12 hits to score 6 runs.  Dawel Lugo provided the pop in the 9th inning to walk off the Yankees.
