Lansing Lugnuts (3-1) Fort Wayne (0-1)

At the Plate the Lugnuts were 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position and left 9 stranded. The game went to extra innings when Tim Locastro single scored D.J. Davis for the tying run. Despite being hitless in 6 at-bats, Danny Jansen has contributed. This time he was able to drive in the winning run with a SAC and he had a walk earlier in the game. Gunnar Heidt had 2 steals, as did Chris Carlson. Richard Urena and Tim Locastro each had stolen bases of their own.

On the mound Chase Mallard, in his Lugnuts début, allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 4 over 5IP. Colton Turner, who started 12 games for Vancouver in 2014, pitched three and third, allowing 2 hits, 2 walks and striking out 3. Phil Kish was credited with the win for his 1.2IP of work.

Prospect watch: Gunnar Heidt, 13th round 2014 draft pick, comes to us from Charleston College. He played 25 games in 2014, all at 2nd base. This season he will be manning 3rd. The 22-year-old has a good approach at the plate and can swipe the odd base.
