Other Nominees
The Blue Jays also received nominations for Top Performance and Biggest Blooper.
For Top Performance, late-season acquisition Brett Wallace gets the nod with his August 24th performance for the Buffalo Bisons. In the game, Wallace went deep not once, not twice, but three times, including a walk-off grand slam in a game that was crucial to the Bisons’ playoff hopes.
He’s up against a pair of 4-HR games (Mike Ford and Jon Griffin), a cycle in a professional debut (Grant Kay), a 16 strike-out performance by D-Backs prospect Blayne Weller, and a 12-K no-hitter by Dodgers righty Andres Santiago
The Blue Jays also received a snicker for Best Blooper, highlighting Munenori Kawasaki’s dugout interview about Buffalo’s frigid early-season temperatures, dancing, and other humorous topics.
