It seems that the first of what should be many promotions for pitchers from HiA Dunedin to AA New Hampshire has just taken place, as RHP Chad Jenkins (23) joins the Fishercats. The Kennesaw State product was selected int he 1st rd of the 2009 draft, 20th overall, and you can read the JJ Analysis on him here.
Through 11 starts in Dunedin, Chad has the following stats:
4-5 / 3.07 ERA / 67.1 IP (6.1 IP per game avg) / 71 hits / 14 BB / 44 Ks / and a .267 average against
The timing of the promotion is odd since it comes on the heels of his worst start of the season, when Chad allowed 11 hits and 4 ER in 6 IP. One start wasn’t going to change the mind of Jays brass it seems, particularly when it was the first time he had allowed more than 3 ER in a start this season.
We wish Chad well and congratulate him on his promotion. We’re surely going to monitor how he makes what most pitchers call the biggest jump in their careers!
Of note is the fact that he is taking Frank Gailey‘s spot, who returns to HiA Dunedin.
Robert Ray has also been demoted, from Las Vegas to New Hampshire, while Oliver Dominguez has made the jump from LoA Lansing to New Hampshire.
A busy day for transactions, but I’m guessing that it’s just the start of what will be a transaction firestorm over the next month or so.
