The 2025 Toronto Blue Jays have had an incredible turnaround season after missing out on the 2024 Postseason. After 18 July wins, the Blue Jays are first place in the American League East Division.
With 64 wins, the Blue Jays are also tied for the most wins in MLB. Toronto's depth has carried them throughout the season and the depth got deeper at the deadline, particularly in the rotation when the Blue Jays traded for Shane Bieber.
Although Bieber hasn't pitched in 2025 due to injuries, the former Cy Young award winner has had some solid rehab starts. Bieber has a player option on his contract at the end of this season, and it would be great if he exercised that option to stay in Toronto. One way the Blue Jays could make that more of a reality is by having a deep postseason run. Then, perhaps, Bieber won't be the only impending free agent to stick around with Toronto.
Bieber and Bichette could have desire to stay in Toronto if a deep postseason run happens
Bieber and Bo Bichette are both slated to hit the market at the end of the season. The two of them are going to be heavily relied on to get Toronto back to the World Series for the first time since 1993. Even if the Blue Jays don't win the World Series, but a deep postseason run happens, it can help convince both Bieber and Bicette to re-sign in Toronto. One thing is for sure, keeping both players would be pivotal for Toronto.
For Bieber, he's had a solid career with Cleveland from 2018-2024. Bieber made the All-Star Game two times and took home the 2020 American League Cy Young award, winning the pitching Triple Crown that season. Adding Bieber makes the rotation stronger, when he's ready to return.
With his experience and talent, Bieber provides another solid arm for now and possibly into the future if the Blue Jays can re-sign him, especially with Max Scherzer and Chris Bassitt also on the last years' of their contracts.
For Bichette, he's grown into a fan favorite since first playing in 2019. Bichette is leading the Blue Jays in hits, doubles and RBIs for the Blue Jays in 2025. There was some doubt before 2025 began if the Blue Jays would trade Bichette if the team was out of a postseason position. With the Blue Jays now in a postseason spot, Bichette remaining on the team would be a big positive this off-season.

The Blue Jays extended Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to a 14-year, $500 million contract early into the season. Now, expectations will be that Bichette will get a solid contract for his production as a Blue Jay as well.
2025 has been exciting for the Blue Jays. Now in August, it's another pivotal month to make sure they get closer to locking down a postseason spot when September arrives. Bieber and Bichette could have their future remain in Toronto if the Blue Jays work some magic down the road.
