A look at the Toronto Blue Jays top MiLB performers at each level from the week that was

Triple A – Buffalo Bisons
(Record 21-22)

The Buffalo Bisons continue to trend upward as they went 4-3 over the past week.  The offence has been providing some consistent thunder in that time as there were only two games that they failed to score at least 4 runs.  Dalton Pompey made it only into four games this week but was impressive when he suited up.  He went 4-13 (.308) and scored a pair of runs while walking three times.  If he can remain on the field his numbers will continue to increase.

Andy Burns returned to the lineup on May 18th and has picked up right were he left off with the Bisons.  He has went 6-16 (.375) with a pair of RBIs and has scored once in each of the four games since he has returned.  Jesus Montero is supplying the thunder in the Herd charge as he went 9-28 (.321) with two homers and six RBIs.

On the other side of the ball the Bisons have struggled some.  They have allowed five or more runs in five of their past seven games.  Wade LeBlanc had an excellent outing earlier in the week where he pitched 6.1 innings and did not allow a run on 7 hits.  Also in that start he struck out two while only walking two.  Drew Hutchison continues to pile up excellent starts.  He made it into two games this past week and combined for 13 innings pitched, one earned run, and only seven hits allowed.  Hutch also has been mastering his control in the past week.  He has only walked three batters in his past two starts while striking out 12.

Double A – New Hampshire Fisher Cats

More from Toronto Blue Jays Prospects

(Record 19-21)

A rough six game week for the Fisher Cats drops them below below .500.  They went 2-4 in the past week and had difficulties scoring runs most nights.  Derrick Loveless was promoted to the Cats from Dunedin and has already recorded his first home run.  Dwight Smith Jr. has his safely in all 6 games this past week.  He is an impressive 9-23 (.391) with a home run, a stolen base, three runs scored, and three RBIs over that span.  Rowdy Tellez might be just as hot as Smith at the moment though.  Tellez went 7-23 (.304) with a home run, two runs scored, and three RBIs over the past six games.

The pitching was beat up in the past week and Jeremy Gabryszwski turned in one of the few solid performances early in the week.  He threw six innings of four-hit ball and allowed two earned runs.

MVFC – Dwight Smith Jr.

Single A+ – Dunedin Blue Jays
(Record 18-25)

In the past week the D-Jays were only able to go 3-4 as the continue to struggle with their pitchers and defense.  Jonathan Davis popped out two home runs in the past week.  He collected four RBIs but had a rough week with the stick otherwise.  Ryan McBroom continues to hit the ball hard and went 10-27 (.370) with a home run, two runs scored, and four RBIs.

Conner Greene put in a couple decent starts that were good for five innings each.  Chris Rowley continues to work up his pitch count as he turned in a 4.2 inning and a six inning start.  Rowley allowed only seven hits in the 10.2 innings of work and struck out four.  Francisco Rios threw one of the more impressive starts of the week in an amazing outing.  He tossed seven innings of shut out ball while only allowing two hits and striking out six.

Single A – Lansing Lugnuts
(Record 20-20)

The Lugnuts are hanging out right at the .500 level and are having troubles with consistency as they fall four games out of first.  In the past week they went 3-4.  Max Penetecost has arrived and has been fun to watch.  Juan Kelly has been on fire and is 7-20 (.350).   Kelly has hit a home run and scored four times in the past week.  Were Kelly has been the most impressive has been in the RBI department as he raked in eight over the past week.

On the mound Jon Harris showed off his potential as he threw a seven-inning four-hitter and struck out 11.  Harris is beginning to impress as his confidence grows.  Harris has now started in six games and has only allowed a run in the first start.  This last start really showcased what he is capable of.
