Another undrafted pitcher is joining the Toronto Blue Jays organization, and this one was more of the more surprising snubs in the 2026 MLB Draft. Isaiah Magdaleno, 21, a right-hander from the University of Hawaii Manoa, signed Monday as an undrafted free agent with the Blue Jays. He will report to the Blue Jays training facility in Dunedin this week.

Magdaleno is the fifth undrafted pitcher to sign with Toronto following the end of the MLB Draft. The two-day, 20-round draft concluded Sunday, with the Blue Jays drafting nine college pitchers. Clearly, the Blue Jays had a strategy that focused on adding as many pitchers with college experience as possible. That increases the chance the Blue Jays hit on a few prospects, something that is needed for an organization that has lacked successful homegrown pitchers over the past few years.
A junior at Hawaii, Magdaleno worked as a starter and reliever, making 15 starts and throwing 95.1 innings. He posted a 2.36 ERA and 0.92 WHIP, while striking out 116 batters and walking only 31. Over the last month of the season, Magdaleno posted a 0.83 ERA and threw two, one-hit, complete game shutouts. For his NCAA career, Magdaleno struck out 221 batters in 179 innings, while finishing with a 3.17 ERA and 1.08 WHIP.
Magdaleno's big senior season didn't result in hearing his name called during the draft
For his efforts, Magdaleno was named a third-team All-American, and was also named to the First-Team All-Big West and American Baseball Coaches Association Second-Team All-West Region. He was the first Hawaii player to be named an All-American since 2020.
In 2025, Magdaleno was named to the First-Team All-Big West after posting a 2.70 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in 60 innings. He also appeared in seven games in the prestigious Cape Cod League, posting a 3.78 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 16.2 innings.
Prior to the draft, Magdaleno was projected to be taken in the 12th round by Perfect Game, one of the top college baseball scouting organizations. He was also reportedly the target of a number of MLB teams. Magdaleno told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser he was surprised to not be drafted, but the Blue Jays reached out shortly afterwards and he quickly accepted. He added he was ready to get to work with the Blue Jays staff.
Magdaleno is listed at 6-feet, 3-inches and 220 pounds. His fastball is clocked at around 90 mph and his changeup is considered an elite pitch.
