A day after two Blue Jays hit balls out of TD Ballpark, the Blue Jays will look to keep the good vibes rolling Tuesday when they welcome the Minnesota Twins to Dunedin for a spring training matchup.

The Blue Jays have played well this spring, and should be set up for success Tuesday thanks to a lineup filled with major leaguers along with having a veteran pitcher on the mound. First pitch is set for 1:07 p.m. ET at TD Ballpark. The game will be available to stream on Sportsnet.

Probable starting pitchers

Andrew Morris (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 2 K) vs. Chris Bassitt (1-0, 3.60 ERA, 6 K)

That veteran pitcher is Bassitt, who will be making his third start of the spring. He went 2 2/3 innings against the Tigers in his spring debut before tossing 2 1/3 innings against Boston last week.

He threw 56 pitches the last time out, which is likely where he'll finish today. He struck out six and walked four so far this spring.

Morris was a fourth-roudn pick by the Twins in the 2022 MLB Draft and is coming off a season where he pitched at High-A, Double-A and Triple-A. he had a 2.37 ERA in 26 games across all three levels to go along with 133 strikeouts.

He only managed to throw 84 1/3 innings the year prior after he missed the first two months of the season with right bicep tendinitis. He primarily relies on a fastball, slider, changeup and curveball.

Toronto Blue Jays starting lineup, March 11

  • 1.2B Andrés Giménez
  • 2. 1B Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
  • 3. LF Anthony Santander
  • 4. SS Bo Bichette
  • 5. RF George Springer
  • 6. DH Daulton Varsho
  • 7. C Alejandro Kirk
  • 8. 3B Will Wagner
  • 9. CF Myles Straw

The Blue Jays did some reshuffling from their lineup yesterday, and Bichette's moved down to cleanup after hitting leadoff, which is now Giménez's spot.

It seems like the lineup for Opening Day will likely have Guerrero hitting second and Santander hitting third (since that's how they've lined up the most during the spring), which should end up helping lengthen Toronto's lineup. Guerrero will either see more pitches to hit and/or Santander will be able to hit more with men on base. It's a win-win.

Springer's back in right field after playing in left field yesterday, and it seems clear that he and Santander will swap corners throughout the year. Varsho's also back in the lineup after not playing yesterday, but he's still DHing.
