About 10 minutes before first pitch yesterday, the Blue Jays held their Opening Day ceremonies, where they honored last year's award winners and recognized Kevin Kiermaier.
After that, fans at Rogers Centre didn't have much to cheer about in a 12-2 loss. But, as part of the beauty of the baseball season, they'll get another chance to pick up a win on Friday when they take on Baltimore in the second game of the series.
Kevin Gausman will take the mound for the Blue Jays, while Charlie Morton will get the start for Baltimore.
First pitch is set for 7:07 p.m., while the game will only be available on Apple TV+. You can sign up for Apple TV+ here.
Probable starting pitchers
Charlie Morton vs. Kevin Gausman
Guasman gets the start the night after José Berríos labored through five innings and allowed three home runs. He allowed six earned runs in seven innings this spring and is a popular pick to have a bounce-back season.
He'll start the season against plenty of familiar faces, as six members of the Orioles' roster have had 10+ at-bats against him in his career. Ryan Mountcastle and Cedric Mullins are both hitting better than .300 against him, while Colton Cowser has a 1.143 OPS in seven at-bats against Gausman.
Morton will be making his Orioles debut after spending the past four seasons with Atlanta. And while he's spent most of this decade in the National League, he was with the Rays in 2019 and 2020, so he has a bit of history with some members of the Blue Jays. Bo Bichette (.313 average in 16 at-bats against Morton) and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (.308 in 13 at-bats) have faced off against him a bunch, while George Springer is 3-for-8 in his career against him.

The Blue Jays lineup is fairly similar to the lineup they went with on Opening Day — though the team is hoping today's version comes with a little more success. Giménez is batting cleanup for the second day in a row after only hitting at that spot in his lineup four other times, while Bichette is leading off once again.
Roden is once again in right field, only this time he'll be flanked by Nathan Lukes in center field instead of George Springer. Roden got his first career hit yesterday and will once again be at the bottom of the lineup where he can serve as secondary leadoff hitter.
