This sluggers' power yet to shine, but the Blue Jays and their fans shouldn't worry

We're six games into the Toronto Blue Jays 2026 campaign and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has yet to hit a home-run. But with over 2,200 games left on his current 14-year contract with the Blue Jays, they have plenty of time to let the slugger do his thing and with the way he has been hitting the ball, they should start leaving the yard any day now.

Guerrero Jr.'s bat should be heating up very soon

Many Blue Jays fans probably won't remember Vladdy's statistics in March and April last year because October and November were so much fun, but it was very ugly. He was getting on base at a decent clip but it took 18 games for him to hit his first home-run of the 2025 campaign which is unnaceptable.

If the Blue Jays are going to be successful, the team doesn't need the 27-year-old to get walks and hit singles. Instead, they need him to mash baseballs out of Rogers Centre and he needs to look like the AL MVP candidate he was a few short years ago.

Despite having a "down-year" with 23 HR and 84 RBI, Guerrero Jr. turned it on in the postseason, finishing with 8 HR and 15 RBI in only 18 games, which translates to a 72 dinger season. Obviously that's an unsustainable run, unless he got on Barry Bonds' old diet, but the Blue Jays need the reigning ALCS MVP to turn into a closer version of playoff Vladdy versus regular season Vladdy if this team wants to make the playoffs and have success.

As we all know, the AL East is as dangerous as ever and the playoffs aren't guaranteed. Toronto's starting pitching has been arguably the best in the MLB thus far, yet this team is only 4-2 after losing two terrible games to the Colorado Rockies.

It's only six games, but he's still yet to hit a home-run, or an extra base hit for that matter and only has two RBI. We can look at the long postseason run and an early start to the season with the World Baseball Classic as a true reason why he's off to a tough start, but he needs to get out of this slump soon.

If he wants to have a respectable season, he should be hitting a home-run every five games to reach a solid 30 HR campaign, so he can't do what he did last year and go another 12 games without a jack.

We all know that it's tough to make games one through six matter as much as Game 7 of the World Series but it's time for Vladdy to get back on track and to start hitting bombs. If you're a betting person, it would probably be good to starting betting this every night because he's incredibly due.
