After finishing off the New York Yankees in four games in the ALDS, the Toronto Blue Jays earned a good few days off before the ALCS, which starts on Sunday at the Rogers Centre. In doing so, it has given just a little more extra time for those players still on the sidelines to potentially make their way back into the lineup for the MLB Playoffs.
The Blue Jays currently have several key players on the mend, including several arms from the pitching staff headlined by Chris Bassitt and José Berríos. But if Toronto wanted to have someone back that could have a significant impact on the game from here on out, the one player they should hope to have back healthy for the ALCS is star shortstop Bo Bichette.

The Blue Jays may be stronger defensively with their current makeup in the infield, with the likes of Ernie Clement and Andrés Giménez mainly holding down the shortstop position while Bichette is out. However, there is no question that the potential explosiveness and elite production that Bichette could provide when healthy is second to none (okay, maybe other than playoff monster Vladimir Guerrero Jr.).

The Blue Jays offense have been clicking already in the postseason as they have accumulated 34 runs in just four games. But Bichette can further augment that to make the team totally unstoppable.
After all, the 27-year-old shortstop had a huge bounce back 2025 campaign in which he batted a stellar .311 with an .840 OPS, along with 78 runs scored, 44 doubles, 18 home runs and 94 RBIs in 139 games played. More significantly, he had recapture his prior All-Star form and was actually leading the entire league in hits prior to his knee injury.

But his impact can go beyond just his numbers, as being actively back in the Blue Jays lineup could give the team that extra confidence and moral boost to be even better. In addition, Bichette would provide strong protection for whoever would be hitting in front of him, further making the batting order even more potent.
Finally, Bichette has the penchant to come through in the clutch, as he batted an eye-popping .381 with a 1.053 OPS with runners in scoring position this season.
As a result, if he is ready to go, the Blue Jays should not hesitate or worry about breaking their current team chemistry by activating and inserting Bichette into the lineup. In doing so, opposing teams should become afraid, very afraid to face Toronto at any point this postseason from here on out.
