There's no denying that the Boston Red Sox absolutely hate the New York Yankees. The Red Sox-Yankees rivalry is arguably the biggest in all of sports. Before the 2025 ALDS, the Yankees defeated the Red Sox in the Wild Card series in three games as they got a chance to stick it to their hated rival by knocking them out in the postseason.
The loss may have left Red Sox fans, and their legends, feeling very bitter. But now all of a sudden it seems as if Red Sox nation is rooting for another division rival to take down the Yankees in the 2025 ALDS. One thing is for sure, one of the greatest players in Red Sox history is all about the Toronto Blue Jays bandwagon.
Big Papi has become huge Blue Jays supporter
David Ortiz had intense battles with the Yankees throughout his Hall of Fame career. Since retiring after the 2016 MLB season, Ortiz has been an analyst. With the Yankees in the ALDS, Ortiz has become a huge Blue Jays supporter in hopes the Yankees lose in the ALDS.
Following the Blue Jays' 13-7 Game 2 win, Ortiz made Yankees legend Alex Rodriguez laugh by making jokes at the expense of the former MVP.
David Ortiz doesn’t like the Yankees’ chances after going down 0-2 to the Blue Jays 😂

"They can bring Jesus back, and they're still going to Cancun," Ortiz said. "It's over. It's a wrap. Just so you know. This Toronto Blue Jays lineup ain't playing around."
It's clear there's no love lost for Ortiz and the Yankees, even after retiring. Ortiz was right about one thing that the Blue Jays lineup has been incredible this postseason through two games setting an MLB record for hitting home runs in Games 1 and 2.
This postseason, the Blue Jays lineup has domianted the Yankees. In two games combined, the Blue Jays have scored 23 runs and every player in the Blue Jays lineup except one has recorded at least one hit so far. In Game 2, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had his signature moment by hitting a grand slam in the fourth inning to put the Blue Jays up 9-0. It was the first postseason grand slam in Blue Jays history.
Good morning, @BlueJays fans!

Along with a lineup that seems to be hitting everything, the Blue Jays have gotten solid starting pitching from Kevin Gausman and Trey Yesavage. For Game 3, it will be Shane Bieber's turn to carry the trend on the road and we can't wait to see what Ortiz has in store for A-Rod and Derek Jeter should the Yankees get swept.
