Well, folks, we have officially made it to the end of the 2024 regular season. The Toronto Blue Jays will take on the Miami Marlins one more time, with the biggest storyline of the day being whether Vladimir Guerrero Jr. can reach 200 hits this year or not. The superstar will bat leadoff in Sunday's matchup and is currently just one base hit away from reaching that impressive landmark.

Probable starting pitchers

  • Taking the mound for the Blue Jays will be Ryan Burr, who'll be making his 34th appearance and fourth "start" for the Jays this year. The 30-year-old initially came over to Toronto in a minor trade in May. He's had some rough outings, but his overall numbers are respectable enough where it's fair to wonder if he'll be back on the roster next year. All told, Burr is sporting a 3.69 ERA, 3.13 FIP and 110 ERA+ entering the day, with an impressive 13.1 strikeouts-per-nine ratio. He should only go an inning or so before turning it over to the likely follower, which will be left-hander Ryan Yarbrough.
  • Taking on Ryan Burr and Ryan Yarbrough will be another Ryan in Ryan Weathers. Wow. The left-hander is having easily the best season of his four-year big league career, going 4-6 with a 3.81 ERA, 4.26 FIP and 119 ERA+ through 80.1 innings of work. The 24-year-old is a former top prospect of the Padres and seems to have come into his own on the Marlins. He's gone from oft-injured fringe arm to a guaranteed member of the '25 Marlins rotation.
