Toronto Blue Jays Spring Training: New Jays gear designs released
With less than two weeks before pitchers and catchers report, the anticipation of the return of baseball went up a notch today as MLB teams released their 2023 Spring Training caps; the Jays cap is here. It’s royal blue with a mesh back, blue and white logo on the front panel, and a 2023 Spring Training patch on the right hand side, and it comes in both fitted and adjustable sizes. There are also fitted gray, and royal blue & white caps that the players will wear for on-field batting practice as well.
Remember that the World Baseball Classic returns from March 7th for the first time since 2017, so any pitchers and catchers participating in the WBC will report to Dunedin early on February 13th. The rest of the pitchers and catchers, along with position players playing in the WBC, will have their first full workout on February 16th, with the first official full squad workout on February 21st.
If you’re headed to Dunedin, the flight is approximately three hours direct from Toronto, with Air Canada, WestJet, Sunwing and Lynx Air all flying from Toronto Pearson to Tampa Bay. TD Ballpark, where the Jays play, is a 40 minute drive from Tampa International Airport heading west towards the Gulf of Mexico along Florida State Road 60.
The first spring training game is against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday, February 25th in Bradenton, Florida which is about a one hour drive south of Dunedin. The Jays home opener at TD Ballpark is the next day on Sunday against a split-squad Yankees team.
In terms of Blue Jays players confirmed for the WBC in March, so far we know that Vladimir Guerrero Jr., will be playing for the Dominican Republic along with Yimi Garcia, Alejandro Kirk will play for Mexico and starter José Berríos will pitch for Puerto Rico.
And Opening Day will be in 52 days on March 30th in St. Louis against the Cardinals! Let’s go Blue Jays!
