The Toronto Blue Jays finally broke into the win column in a big way on Tuesday evening, just barely squeaking by the Tampa Bay Rays in a 20-1 nail-biter. This massive offensive explosion came at the perfect time for the Jays, who had been experiencing some low morale all around the roster. The pitchign was a similar story, as each of José Berríos (7.0 IP, 1 R, 5 K) and a combination of Tim Mayza and Adam Cimber (1 scoreless inning each) shut down the red-hot Rays on offense.

Probable starting pitchers

  • In what is sure to be one heck of a pitching matchup, Yusei Kikuchi is set to take the mound for the Blue Jays for the 10th time this year. The southpaw has been fairly consistent overall but is still surrendering more home runs than one would like to see from him. In 46.1 innings this season, he has 43 strikeouts, 12 walks and 12 home runs surrendered. This season, the 32-year-old has shown immense promise at times, something he did not do much of last year, so he is gradually trending in the right direction.
  • For the Rays, left-hander Shane McClanahan is set to make his 11th start of the year. The 26-year-old has been utterly dominant so far this season, going 7-0 with a 2.05 ERA, 3.58 FIP and a 196 ERA+. After earning an All-Star Game nod and a sixth place finish in the AL Cy Young voting in 2022, McClanahan seems well on his way to surpass his numbers from last year, which is really saying something.
