In what is by far the most anticipated series of the 2023 regular season (so far), the Tampa Bay Rays are coming to the Rogers Centre to take on the Toronto Blue Jays. The Rays, as everyone knows, have yet to lose a game this year. The club is off to a historic 13-0 start and has been doing everything right in the first two weeks of games. It's going to be up to the Jays to dethrone the early-season AL East juggernauts.

Probable pitching starters

28-year-old José Berríos will be taking the mound for the Blue Jays in Friday's matchup. He is desperately in need of a solid start after having a tough time limiting baserunners all of last year and being off to a horrendous start this year. In his first two starts of 2023, Berríos has allowed 14 runs (12 earned) on 15 hits in just 9.2 innings of work. His strikeout numbers are way up (11.2 per nine), but he continues to have difficulties keeping the opposition off of the basepaths and scoreboard.

Opposing Berríos will be right-hander Drew Rasmussen, who, unlike Berríos, is off to an excellent start this year. The 27-year-old has yet to allow an earned runs and has surrendered only three base hits through two starts and 13 innings of work. He is coming off of a breakout season for the Rays last year in which he was 11-7 with a 2.84 ERA in 28 starts.
