After yet another poor outing from Alek Manoah, the Blue Jays fell to the Phillies in 8-4 fashion in Tuesday's game. Tim Mayza, Trevor Richards and Nate Pearson all coughed up at least one earned run in relief as well. On offense, Kevin Kiermaier notched two more hits while Bo Bichette went 2-for-5 with a double and a home run. The Jays are set to take on the Phillies for the second and final game of this short mid-week series before another day off.

Probable starting pitchers

  • Yesterday's Manoah vs. Nola battle is likely to pale in comparison to today's matchup. For the Blue Jays, Kevin Gausman is set to make the eighth start of his 2023 season. So far, the righty has been incredible for the Jays, posting a 3.86 ERA, 2.61 FIP and 111 ERA+. He has struck out over 12 batters per nine innings and already has three outings this season of 11 or more punchouts.
  • 32-year-old Zack Wheeler is set to take the ball for the Phillies. He will also make his eighth start of the season and, like Gausman, has looked solid. In 38 innings of work, Wheeler has a 4.26 ERA, 2.43 FIP and 100 ERA+. Notably, he has surrendered just one home run all season.
