The second-half Blue Jays may be 5-5 but they're playing with a bit of newfound swagger after the trade deadline came and went. At 14.5 games out of first place in the AL East and 9.5 out of the Wild Card race, there's not much cause for hope, but at least the club has been fun to watch as of late. In Friday night's contest, Toronto bested Oakland in 3-1 fashion thanks to a strong seven-inning showing from Jose Berrios.

Probable starting pitchers

  • 27-year-old rookie Yariel Rodriguez is gearing up to make the 12th start of the season and his big league career. Throughout the majority of his outings, the results have been mixed, but Rodriguez is fresh off a strong showing against the Yankees in which he fired 4.2 shutout innings with four strikeouts and a walk.
  • Oakland will send fellow right-hander Osvaldo Bido to the mound to make his 11th appearance and fifth start of the season. The 28-year-old has a 4.64 ERA and 4.08 FIP through 33 innings this year, striking out over nine batters per nine innings and boasting an HR/9 of just 0.5.
