The Toronto Blue Jays enter Thursday riding a five-game win streak. A victory tonight would not only push it to six games, but it would also give them a second consecutive sweep and it would also push the division rival Yankees below .500 on the season, as they currently sit at 76-76. The Jays offense has been performing at an above-average rate over the past week or so, notably without slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (who remains out of the lineup with right knee discomfort) this series.

Probable starting pitchers

  • José Berríos is set to take the mound for the Blue Jays and will be making his 31st start of the season. In his last outing, the right-hander threw seven shutout innings with eight strikeouts against the Boston Red Sox and has been on an absolute tear as of late. Through and through, the 29-year-old has turned his level of play up a notch throughout the 2023 campaign and is well on his way to one of the best statistical seasons he's had in quite some time.
  • Opposing Berríos will be Yankees ace Gerrit Cole, who is going to be making his 32nd start of the year. Cole, 33, has continued to be one of the very best pitchers this game has to offer and is putting together yet another Cy Young worthy season. In an American League-leading 192 innings, the right-hander has posted a 13-4 record, AL-leading 2.81 ERA, 3.30 FIP and 155 ERA+.
