The Toronto Blue Jays have not exactly gotten their 2024 season off to the best start. They've been no-hit already, been one-hit and enter the day in the cellar of the American League East. Fortunately, it's still early. The club is 3-4 through seven games while the New York Yankees, this weekend's opponent, are 6-1.

Prior to today's contest, the Blue Jays announced a pair of roster moves centering around their bullpen.

Probable starting pitchers

  • Yusei Kikuchi is ready to make his second start of the season. The left-hander was one of the most pleasant surprises in baseball last year but is coming off of a not-so-great start last week. Kikuchi, 32, allowed three runs on six hits while walking three and striking out four. The worry meter should be very low right now, though.
  • Opposite Kikuchi will be right-hander Marcus Stroman, who played the first six years of his big league career in Toronto. The 32-year-old was impressive in his first start with the Yankees, going six shutout innings with four strikeouts and a pair of walks. Stroman has turned himself into a strong, durable and consistent starter since leaving the Blue Jays, so he will be a formidable foe now that he's become a rival.
