Friday night's matchup against the Blue Jays and Yankees delivered on the hype, and then some. In the end, the Jays won in 6-1 fashion thanks to huge offensive performances from Brandon Belt (2-for-4, HR, 4 RBI) and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI) while Yusei Kikuchi looked sharp, allowing just one earned run over six innings of work.

Probable starting pitchers

  • Alek Manoah is scheduled to start against the Evil Empire in Game 2. He has had a hard time getting going this year and is in need of a bounceback performance. In four starts so far this year, Manoah has a 6.98 ERA in 19.1 innings thank to 15 earned runs on 23 hits. He has already surrendered four home runs and is having a bit of a loss of control on the mound as well, walking 15 batters against 16 strikeouts.
  • Gerrit Cole, one of Blue Jays Nation's favorite opposing pitchers (not really), will take on Manoah in Saturday's pitching duel. Cole has been red-hot to start the season, posting an ERA of 0.95 across four starts and 28.1 innings of work. He has 32 punchouts against just eight walks and has surrendered a total of three earned runs on 13 hits. Cole is a nemesis to the Blue Jays and Manoah is a nemesis to the Yankees, so this game should be a good one.
