At 11-8, the Toronto Blue Jays are off to a nice start to the 2023 regular season. Unfortunately, most of the other AL East teams are as well, so the Blue Jays are in fourth place entering the day. Next up on the schedule for the club is the always-dangerous Yankees. While Red Sox-Yankees has always been the talk of the division, a heated rivalry has been brewing between Toronto and New York, so there is sure to be plenty of drama in this three-game set.

Probable starting pitchers

  • Left-hander Yusei Kikuchi will take the mound against the Yankees in Friday's matchup. The 31-year-old has looked sharp through the first three starts and 15.1 innings of his season after dominating in Spring Training. So far, he has a 4.70 ERA (which is swayed heavily by one bad outing and a missed catch by Daulton Varsho) with 17 strikeouts and just three walks allowed.
  • Opposing Kikuchi in Friday's game will be right-hander Domingo Germán. The 30-year-old was penciled into a long-relief role to start the year before a whole slew of injuries struck the Yankees' pitching staff, forcing him into the rotation. Fortunately for the club, he's done well. In three starts and 14 innings of work, he has a 3.86 ERA with 19 strikeouts.
