Mercifully, we've made it to the end of the Toronto Blue Jays' 2024 season. The club is set to take on the Marlins on Saturday evening before playing their final game of the year on Sunday. Entering the day at 74-86, the Blue Jays will be taking on a Marlins club who is the second-worst squad in all of baseball. One would think that the games would lean in the Jays' favor, but the 15-5 outcome in Friday night's game tells a different story.

Probable starting pitchers

  • The Blue Jays will send right-handed rookie Yariel Rodriguez to the mound for the 21st time this year in what's going to be his last start. The 27-year-old has shown brief glimpses of promise here and there, but his first full year in the States is one that's been mired by inconsistency. All told, Rodriguez is 1-7 with a 4.41 ERA, 4.46 FIP and 91 ERA+ through 81.2 innings of work.
  • Opposite Rodriguez will be Xzavion Curry, one of the newer members of the Marlins. The right-hander was claimed off of waivers from the Guardians last month and is set to make his first start for Miami on Saturday. On the season between Cleveland and Miami, Curry has posted a 5.02 ERA, 4.63 FIP and 86 ERA+. Since making the move to the Marlins, his numbers have improved through eight relief appearances, but now he'll get a shot at making his fifth start of the year but first with the Marlins.
