At 55-45, the Toronto Blue Jays exited the weekend with a firm hold on third place in the AL East. The club is currently just 4.5 GB of the second-place Rays and 6.5 GB of the Orioles, who appear to be the Jays' biggest roadblock to the postseason this year. Next up on the docket are the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers who boast one of the best run differentials (+106) in the majors this season.
Probable starting pitchers
- José Berríos is set to make his 21st start of the year for the Blue Jays. So far this year, the right-hander has seemed to return to his former ace-like form. The 29-year-old is 8-7 on the season with a 3.39 ERA, 3.82 FIP and 123 ERA+. The ERA+ is his highest in a full season since 2021 and is a whopping 50 points higher than where it was last year. Berríos is coming off of a start against the Padres in which he went six innings with nine strikeouts, taking the loss along the way.
- The Dodgers are going to be sending 26-year-old rookie Michael Grove to the mound to make his 13th appearance and 10th start of the year. The right-hander has experienced some growing pains this year and currently boasts a 6.40 ERA in 52 innings of work with just under 11 hits allowed per nine innings.
