The 57-46 Toronto Blue Jays are back in action after having a day off on Thursday. Next up on the agenda is the 54-49 Los Angeles Angels who are currently third in the AL West. Don't let their spot in the standings fool you, though, as this club is always dangerous and has already been active on the trade front this year.

Probable starting pitchers

  • Now back to full health, the Blue Jays will be sending staff ace Kevin Gausman to the mound to make his 21st start of the year. The 32-year-old All-Star has been dominant for the Jays this season and still finds himself firmly in the running for AL Cy Young consideration thanks to his major league-leading 2.77 FIP and AL-leading 12.0 K/9. All told, the right-hander is 7-5 with a 3.18 ERA and 132 ERA+ through 121.2 innings of work this year.
  • Opposite Gausman will be Lucas Giolito, one of the newest members of the Angels. The 29-year-old was only just traded to the club less than 48 hours ago and is set to make his debut this evening. In 21 starts for the White Sox pre-trade, Giolito went 6-6 with a 3.79 ERA, 4.46 FIP and 116 ERA+.
