Toronto Blue Jays probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Los Angeles Angels, August 23
Let’s keep the good times rolling Blue Jays!
The Toronto Blue Jays needed just one inning on Thursday night in which they scored all five of their runs to dispatch the Los Angeles Angels by a score of 5-3. Surprising starter Ryan Burr teamed up with bulk reliever Ryan Yarbrough to lead the charge, keeping the Angels scoreless with six strikeouts over six innings. The Jays (60-68) will aim to keep the ball rolling against the Angels (54-74) as they play the second game of the four-game set on Friday.
Probable starting pitchers
- The Blue Jays will have 10-year veteran Chris Bassitt on the mound to make his 26th start of the season. On the year, he sports a 9-12 record with a 4.34 ERA and 1.44 WHIP with 134 strikeouts in 139 innings pitched. Bassitt has been in a bit of a rut lately, having lost five of his past six games. As a result, he will look to get back on track against an Angels team in which he owns a 7-3 record and a 3.39 ERA for his career.
- The Angels will counter with rookie right-handed pitcher Jack Kochanowicz. After getting off to a shaky start to his MLB career, Kochanowicz has looked a lot better of late. In his past two outings, he has gone at least six innings and yielded only two earned runs in each game, including getting his first career win against the Washington Nationals on August 11. For the season, he has posted a 1-3 record with a 6.53 ERA and 1.65 WHIP over four starts. Kochanowicz will hope to continue his recent success against the Blue Jays on Friday night.
