Toronto Blue Jays probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Los Angeles Angels, August 12
The post-deadline Toronto Blue Jays have been a fun team, despite the fact that they're 4-5 in the month of August and not looking to be a very good team as the season winds down. Armed with multiple new faces and a whole lot of potential, things are going to remain bad before they begin to look up. Next up on the docket is the 52-66 Angels, who are 10.5 games out of first place in the AL West and have a run differential (-88) that's nearly as awful as the Blue Jays' mark (-91).
Probable starting pitchers
- The Blue Jays will send right-hander Bowden Francis to the mound to make his 20th appearance and sixth start of the year. Francis, 28, has had quite the up and down season in Toronto this year, but there's a chance he's beginning to turn things around. In his last start, he went five innings of two-run ball against the Orioles with seven strikeouts. The start before that he went 5.2 innings and allowed three runs against the very same Orioles. His 5.44 ERA on the season may not instill much confidence, but his recent performances should.
- Opposite Francis will be Davis Daniel, who the Angels are sending out to make his sixth start of the year. Daniel, 27, joined the Angels in the seventh round of the 2019 MLB Draft and made his big league debut last year. In 2024, he's got a 6.04 ERA and 4.01 FIP through 25.1 innings of work. Last time out, he went 3.1 innings against the Yankees, allowing five runs on seven hits while striking out four and walking two.
