After Monday night's victory over the Kansas City Royals, the Toronto Blue Jays enter Tuesday's action with a chance to move into third place in the AL East. At 13-10, the club is currently tied with the Red Sox for the spot. The Royals were heavily tabbed as afterthoughts entering the 2024 campaign, but their red-hot start has changed how many around the game view their legitimacy.

Probable starting pitchers

  • For the Blue Jays, Kevin Gausman is going to take the mound for his fifth start of the season. The 33-year-old has a ghastly 8.16 ERA on the year but that's largely thanks to a pair of ugly starts sandwiched in between a solid first outing on Mar. 31 and another on Apr. 17. He's slowly starting to look more like himself, which is a welcomed sign since the Blue Jays are getting the exact opposite from Kevin Kiermaier and George Springer.
  • Michael Wacha is who the Royals will counter with. The 32-year-old has four starts under his belt with his new club and has looked sharp so far. Across 24 innings of work, the right-hander has a 3.75 ERA and 3.26 FIP with 21 strikeouts and six walks. He gives the Royals a much-needed veteran presence who excels when it comes to eating innings and mentoring the younger players.
