At 22-26, the Toronto Blue Jays are scuffling to kick off the current campaign. The team is currently 29th in baseball in runs scored and sporting a -38 run differential. Next up on the docket is the Detroit Tigers, who started off on a hot note this year, but have since regressed to a 23-26 record. Their 0 run differential leaves much to be desired, but is looking a lot better than the one the Jays are sporting.

Probable starting pitchers

  • The Blue Jays will send right-hander Kevin Gausman to the mound to make his 10th start of the season. He started off slow, but has gradually been turning things around over his last five or so starts (outside of a 6 ER showing against the Twins on May 11). All told, he has a 4.89 ERA, 3.49 FIP and 80 ERA+ through 42.1 innings of work.
  • For the Tigers, a resurgent Jack Flaherty is going to take the mound for the 10th time this year. The right-hander leads the majors in K/9 (11.9) and has 72 strikeouts with only eight walks in 54.2 innings. He had been an integral part of the Tigers' early season successes and is coming off of a nine-strikeout showing against the Diamondbacks last week.
