Saturday was a day to forget for the Toronto Blue Jays. Despite the fact that the pitching staff looked sharp, the offense just could not get it done as they were ultimately no-hit by the Detroit Tigers. The Jays enter Sunday with a chance to at least earn a series victory, which would be their fifth in the last six series they've played.

Probable starting pitchers

  • The Blue Jays are set to send right-hander Chris Bassitt to the mound for the final game before the All-Star Break. On the season, the 34-year-old has made 18 starts and has been a serviceable arm for this Jays club. In 105.2 innings of work, Bassitt is 8-5 with a 4.09 ERA, 4.83 FIP and 102 ERA+. Notably, he leads the major league in hit batters with 10.
  • For the Tigers, lefty Tarik Skubal is going to make his second start of the year. After missing the vast majority of the first half of 2023, the 26-year-old returned earlier this week to throw four no-hit innings against the Oakland Athletics with six strikeouts. After a dominant season last year, Skubal is still viewed as an anchor to this Tigers rotation for many years to come.
