The Toronto Blue Jays continue to dominate on the pitching side of things, but have been nearly silent on offense in the first three games against the Cleveland Guardians. While the Jays lead the series 2-1, the offense has scored a combined four runs so far. Today's game figures to be a high-scoring affair, as both starting pitchers have been struggling this season on the mound.
Probable starting pitchers
- For the Blue Jays, Alek Manoah is set to make his 19th start of the season. The right-hander has largely been unable to keep runs off the board in nearly every start of his this year, but is coming off of an encouraging outing where he went nearly seven innings against the Red Sox, surrendering three earned runs and striking out five. All told, the 25-year-old is 3-8 with a 5.72 ERA, 6.19 FIP and 73 ERA+ this season.
- The Guardians will be sending one of their trade deadline acquisitions, Noah Syndergaard, to the mound to make his 15th start of the year and third since the deadline. "Thor" has looked like a shell of the pitcher he once was over the course of this season, as he has a combined 6.75 ERA and 6.01 FIP between his tenures on the Dodgers and Guardians.
