Toronto Blue Jays probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Chicago White Sox, May 27
This year's Toronto Blue Jays are entering a pivotal stretch of games against some cellar-dwelling ballclubs. After a disappointing series against the Tigers, the club is set to take on the White Sox, who they just took two of three from a week ago, in Chicago. The White Sox are MLB's worst team in 2024, so anything other than a series victory is going to be considered a failure for the Jays.
Probable starting pitchers
- The Blue Jays are set to send Chris Bassitt to the mound on Jose Berrios's birthday. Bassitt, 35, is 4-6 through 10 starts this year, posting a 4.39 ERA and 88 ERA+ in 55.1 innings of work. In his last time out, he dominated these very same White Sox, going seven shutout innings with four strikeouts and a pair of walks.
- Rookie Nick Nastrini will be making his fourth career start and second against the Blue Jays. His big league debut came back on May 22 and it did not go well, as he walked six batters and allowed nine runs (eight earned) on seven hits across just 3.1 innings. Nastrini, one of the White Sox's top prospects, has shown immense promise throughout his minor league career, so these struggles are not likely to continue for long as he turns into an established big leaguer.
