Coming off of a commanding 9-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox, the Toronto Blue Jays need to get things going soon if there's to be any hope of contention this year. The Jays are 10.5 games back in the AL East and just 2.5 out of a Wild Card spot, so hope is far from gone. Point blank: They need to be winning games against teams like the White Sox, and they're going to go for two in a row in this evening's matchup.

Probable starting pitchers

  • For the Blue Jays, Yusei Kikuchi is gearing up to make his 10th start of the year. The left-hander has been excellent, posting a 2.60 ERA (18th in all of baseball amongst qualified starters) and 2.61 FIP (9th in baseball) across 52 innings of work. While he's been lights out this year, multiple hitters on the White Sox roster have historically hit well against him, so a victory is far from guaranteed.
  • Fellow southpaw Garrett Crochet is going to make his league-leading 11th start of the season tonight. The 25-year-old is functioning as a starting pitcher for the first time in his career and has been excellent, striking out 70 batters (12.2 K/9 leads MLB) and walking only 12 in 51.2 innings. He's got a filthy repertoire and is emerging as a legitimate ace-caliber hurler atop the White Sox rotation.
