Things are, well, not looking good for the 2024 Toronto Blue Jays. The club is riding a six-game losing streak and is set to face off against the same Boston Red Sox club that swept them just a few days ago. At 35-42, the Blue Jays are a whopping 15.5 games out of first place in the AL East and are also 6.5 out of the Wild Card race. Entering the day, FanGraphs has their playoff odds at just five percent.

Probable pitchers

  • A resurgent Chris Bassitt will take the mound for the Blue Jays in this Monday evening affair. The right-hander has 15 starts under his belt this year and while it hasn't all been smooth sailing for him, he's got a 2.25 ERA in four June starts. Bassitt remains a consistent threat to go deep in ballgames and once again is sporting an ERA+ north of 100 (which is league average - he's at 113) in his second year on the Jays.
  • Tanner Houck, who at one point was drafted by the Blue Jays back in 2014, will take the mound for the Red Sox, making his 16th start of the year. Houck, 27, is the undisputed ace of this surging Red Sox club and leads the American League in ERA, ERA+, FIP and HR/9. He is well on his way to the All-Star Game and is a contender to start the contest on the AL side. In his last time out, he went 5.2 innings against the Blue Jays, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits with five strikeouts.
