Given how much the Blue Jays (61-50) have struggled against their own division so far in 2023, Friday night was a positive step in Boston. Another positive, was Davis Schneider hitting a home run in his first Major League at-bat. Now, it's a case of building on the 7-3 win and putting some separation between themselves at the Red Sox (57-52).

Probable starting pitchers

We've written about this already, but it's worth repeating that José Berríos (8-7) is enjoying a fine bounce-back campaign. In fact, he's actually projected to have the lowest ERA of his career (3.31) and is second among all Blue Jays pitchers with a 2.1 WAR. Berríos had a fine outing last time out versus the Angels, allowing just six hits, two walks and one earned run in 6.0 innings, striking out six batters in the process.

In an interesting decision the Red Sox counter with John Schreiber (1-1), who is a relief pitcher. In addition, he only recently returned from the 6-day Injured List. For the season, Schreiber has a 3.74 ERA and 1.431 WHIP in 21.2 innings over 22 appearances.
