Toronto Blue Jays probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Baltimore Orioles, August 7
Happy George Springer Replica Hockey Jersey Giveaway Night to all who celebrate!
The Blue Jays are coming off of a much-needed victory over the division rival Orioles, carried by outstanding performances from Chris Bassitt and Alejandro Kirk. The Jays continue to shift their lineup around a bit in hopes of finding the winning formula, and they'll take on the newest member of the Orioles' starting rotation in Trevor Rogers, who was only just recently acquired at the trade deadline.
Probable starting pitchers
- Earning the start for the Blue Jays will be Bowden Francis, who's set to take the mound for the 19th time this year and fifth as a starting pitcher. The right-hander has struggled at times this year, but a brief recent stint in Triple-A was exactly what he needed, as he's since returned to the big leagues and just recently went 5.2 innings of three-run ball against these same Orioles back on the 29th of July. He's a valuable swingman who's still looking for a permanent role moving forward, but it seems that his performances are trending upward.
- As we found out on Tuesday evening, the planned starting pitcher is not always the one who takes the mound. As of right now, left-hander Trevor Rogers is set to take the mound for the Orioles in what will be his second start on the club. The 26-year-old surrendered five runs on six hits in his last time out, but he had a more respectable 4.53 ERA in 21 starts with the Marlins pre-trade.
