Fresh off of a dominant complete game shutout from Chris Bassitt, the Toronto Blue Jays are undoubedtly feeling good. The team managed to shut the first-place Atlanta Braves down, who had their ace Spencer Strider on the mound, down in 3-0 fashion. On offense, Daulton Varsho hit a late home run while George Springer, who needed a strong offensive showing, drove in another run.
Probable starting pitchers
- José Berríos is set to make his eighth start in Saturday's evening matchup. The right-hander is having himself a nice year so far, albeit an up and down one. As a whole, he has a 4.91 ERA and 3.22 FIP but his 86 ERA+ still leaves something to be desired. The 28-year-old is coming off of a strong start against the Pirates in which he went 6.1 innings with seven strikeouts.
- Taking the mound for the Braves will be yet another super-propsect they have developed in Bryce Elder. The 23-year-old has looked incredible to start the 2023 season, posting a 1.74 ERA to go along with an NL-leading 252 ERA+. Elder is a major groundball pitcher who doesn't strike too many batters out, which should be a nice change of pace for a Blue Jays team who struck out against Strider 12 times Friday night.
