We didn't even get a sniff of starting this game. Well before the original start time, Mother Nature won the first battle between the Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago White Sox on a rainy Tuesday at Guaranteed Rate Field.

With the two teams waiting to get the second game of their three-game series underway, all we can do is wait for the weather to clear on the Southside.

Update: According to MLB.com's Keegan Matheson, the start time has been set for 8:20 p.m. ET.

With the originally scheduled 7:40 p.m. ET start time looking like an impossibility, the White Sox officially announced the rain delay at 6:47 p.m. ET. At the time of the announcement, the home team didn't provide any indication of a tentative start time.

"The start of tonight’s game will be delayed due to rain in the area. We will provide more information as we receive it," the team announced on their social media feeds.

Blue Jays-White Sox rain delay: Kevin Gausman looks to build off his last start

It's no secret that Kevin Gausman (3-3) has had a very un-Kevin Gausman-like start to his season. The right-hander comes into this game with a 4.47 ERA and an obnoxious 1.43 WHIP. However, he'll be looking to build off his last start against the Detroit Tigers when he faces the offensively inept White Sox.

Gausman held the Tigers on one run on three hits over six impressive innings in the outing. He struck out 10 batters en route to picking up just his third win in 10 starts.

The Jays took Monday's series opener 5-1, powered by three home runs. George Springer, Bo Bichette and Davis Schneider all rounded the bases in a much-needed display of power to back starter Chris Bassitt, who threw five innings of shutout ball with seven strikeouts before leaving the game with neck spasms.

Before Tuesday's game, the Blue Jays announced a pair of roster moves, activating veteran reliever Chad Green and optioning struggling Erik Swanson to Triple-A.
