After a shocking trade in the 2022 offseason that sent beloved outfielder Teoscar Hernández from the Blue Jays to the Mariners, the 30-year-old will make his return to the Rogers Centre on April 28th for a three-game series. The return to the Rogers Centre should be an emotional one for him as he spent six years with the club and was a well-liked figure before being dealt away for Erik Swanson and Adam Macko.

The native of the Dominican Republic was one of the best players for the Jays in his tenure with them and he should receive a warm welcome from the fans in his return to the Rogers Centre. He played a big role in the Blue Jays eventual playoff loss to his new team, hitting two home runs and driving in four runs. The 2021 and 2022 seasons were offensive breakouts for Hernández as he hit a combined 57 home runs and drove in 193 runs. If he keeps this pace, he will be a massive addition for the Mariners and will be looking for some revenge against his former team starting on April 28th.

Hernández has some very good stats at the Rogers Centre. Last year he hit 15 of his 25 home runs at his home stadium, as well as having 44 of his 77 runs batted in hit at home.

Although the Blue Jays and Mariners are scheduled to play only one series at the Rogers Centre in the regular season, the two clubs will face off in Seattle for a series as well from July 21st to July 23rd. It’s also possible that we could see another playoff matchup between the two teams at the Rogers Centre. Hernández's return to the place he called home for the past six years will surely be a bittersweet one.
