The Toronto Blue Jays are fortunate enough to have one of the prettiest swings in baseball on their active roster, owned by George Springer.

Springer, 33, has had some well documented issues staying healthy over the course of his now-nine-year big league career. When he's healthy, he's one of the best oufielders in the league and there is no doubting that.

In Thursday's Spring Training game, Springer, who was leading off and serving as the team's designated hitter, sent a Bryce Elder fastball a mile out of the stadium to right-center field.

This gives us our very first Springer Dinger of the year.

Elder, 23, is no slouch on the mound. A former prized prospect of the Braves, he just barely exhausted his rookie eligibility last season, going 2-4 with a 3.17 ERA over 10 appearances and 54 innings. Notably, he struck out 10 batters in his sixth career start and threw a complete game shuout in his eighth start.

There was no keeping Elder's fourseamer in the yard, as Springer, who is expected to be the Jays' everyday right fielder in 2023, crushed that one.

One of the better leadoff men in recent memory, Springer is going to be heavily relied upon to carry this Jays offense come the regular season. He, alongside Alejandro Kirk, Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. form the nucleus of the offense.

The offseason addition of Kevin Kiermaier to play center field pushed Springer to right, which could be a great move for him as right field is much less physically demanding than center is. Plus, it helps that Kiermaier is one of the best defensive center fielders of this generation.

In 133 games last year, Springer hit 25 home runs, drove in 76, stole 14 bases and posted a 131 OPS+. He made the All-Star Game for the fourth time in his career and was one of the best contributors on the club.

Also today, Cavan Biggio hit his first home run of the year. He is looking to carve out a role in the everyday lineup in 2023 and his red-hot spring performance is a great start.

Next. Yankees injuries continue to mount, giving the Jays an advantage. dark
