Blue Jays reliever shares special pregnancy announcement on social media
Congratulations to Wes Parsons and his family!
For Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Wes Parsons, he may already be thrilled when he managed to make the Opening Day roster with the team late last month. But nothing beats the sheer excitement and overjoy of making an important, life-changing addition that will be coming to his own family.
On Wednesday, the Parsons family revealed on social media that his wife Della was pregnant with a baby girl and that Gemma is due in October 2024. In the photo, it depicts their son Beckett patiently waiting to be a big brother in a few months. The announcement elicited a string of well wishes and congratulations from their followers in the process.
Parsons was signed last year by the Jays to a minor-league contract after spending his previous two seasons in Korea. With the ability to pitch in a starting or relief role, he provided valuable pitching depth to the organization. Parsons ultimately made his Jays debut in the final game of the 2023 season, albeit a forgettable one in which he gave up 9 earned runs in just 4 innings of work. Nevertheless, he still produced a solid minor league campaign overall where he pitched to a 9-4 record with a 4.55 ERA along with 100 strikeouts in just 85 total innings.
This spring, despite struggling to a 4.22 ERA and 1.69 WHIP in five games of action, injury woes to the Jays’ relief corps enabled Parsons to survive the final cuts to make the Jays’ 26-man roster to start the season. So far, he has made two regular season appearance in which he yielded six runs on six hits in five innings of work. He has the ability to provide length in the Jays’ bullpen, but will need to prove some of his worth soon if he wants to secure his spot on the roster when bullpen reinforcements are due back soon.
Nevertheless, we would like to congratulate Parsons and his family once again with the amazing news and wish them all the best.
