All 30 teams around Major League Baseball are beginning to release their 2024 regular season schedules. This includes the Toronto Blue Jays, who posted the schedule on their Twitter account.
Things are going to hit the ground running in the upcoming season for the Blue Jays as they have to deal with the Tampa Bay Rays, Houston Astros and New York Yankees in three consecutive series on the road to kick things off. After that, the Jays will come home for the first home games of the year, hosting the Mariners, Rockies and Yankees. The 2024 home opener will be on Monday, April 8th.
The season will once again feature the rule in which every MLB team will play a series against all 29 other teams around the league. The interleague play is going to be dispersed through every month of the year. Interestingly enough, the Blue Jays will not play more than one series against any team other than the Philadelphia Phillies, who they'll face in two two-game series; one in early May and one in early September.
Another interesting aspect of the Blue Jays' 2024 schedule is the fact that after August 4th, the team will not have a single series against any of the Baltimore Orioles, Rays or Yankees. The only divisional opponent the Jays will face are the Boston Red Sox, who will host Toronto for a four-game series at the end of August and then will visit Toronto for a three-game set at the end of September.
With the serious lack of late-season AL East matchups, the Blue Jays are going to have to sincerely hope that they can capitalize on the inter-division games early. There are going to be plenty of opportunities to beat up on the majority of the East throughout the year, so the hope is that there's little to no deficit in the standings once the end of the season comes around, or it's going to be very difficult to make up ground.
