Blue Jays broadcasters among the best in the business in latest reader’s poll
Aren’t we glad that the likes of Shulman and Martinez are a part of the Blue Jays?
For the broadcasting combo of Dan Shulman and Buck Martinez, they can be always counted upon to bring great excitement and entertainment to Toronto Blue Jays fans everywhere for almost the past decade. Whether it be their informative facts, their in-depth analyses, their signature home run calls, or even just their pure sense of humour, the Jays’ faithful have always truly appreciated their enthusiasm and dedication in the hard work that they do.
Well, their excellence in broadcasting has once again been recognized on a much broader scale. In a recent 2024 reader’s poll carried out by Awful Announcing, the Jays’ dynamic broadcasting duo along with the newly added colour commentator Joe Siddall ranked an impressive sixth among the 30 MLB broadcasting teams. For a poll that had its inauguration back in 2014, it marked the fourth consecutive top-ten ranking for the Jays and the third-highest ranking ever achieved (as they finished fourth for their highest ranking ever in 2023).
Among the bottom broadcast feeders included the Chicago White Sox and Oakland Athletics, whereas first place honours went to the team of Gary Cohen, Ron Darling and Keith Hernandez for doing the play-by-play for the New York Mets.
So in the case for the Blue Jays, they may be amidst a highly disappointing season to say the least, but it doesn’t take anything away from the great insights and commentary that Shulman and Martinez bring every night. In doing so, it has certainly helped keep the fans tuned into the action regardless of how well the Jays have been doing.
In fact, the voices of Shulman and Martinez have helped define and become a part of the Jays and Toronto’s baseball culture as a whole. It has come to the point where if they weren’t present to provide the broadcasting, the entire essence and enjoyment of the game would just feel non-existent.
Hopefully, we will all get to continue to hear their greatness at work for now and the future. After all, a Jays game just wouldn’t be the same without them.
