The Toronto Blue Jays hav been in a bit of a slump lately, going 5-5 over their last 10 games. As a result, they're 10.5 games back from the top spot in the AL East and are just outside of the AL wild card picture.

Luckily for them, they're about to begin a weekend series against the lowly Oakland Athletics.

The A's were a fun story for a while during their fans' reverse boycott, but have sicne fallen back down to earth.

Let's dive into the odds for the series opener on Friday night.

Athletics vs. Blue Jays odds, run line, and total

Athletics vs. Blue Jays prediction and pick

While you could go ahead and bet on the Blue Jays to win at -300, or even their run line at -135, I think the best value on the board is the OVER 9 at +100.

The Blue Jays rank seventh in OPS against right-handed pitchers over the last 30 days, and an even more impressive third in batting average at .273. Now, they get to face Jame Kaprielian, who has been awful this season.

He has a 6.38 ERA through 55 innings pitched. or the Jays to have a big game offensively.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jays will be rolling with Chris Bassitt, who has been stumbling in a big way as of late. He has allowed 13 earned runs over his last 15.2 innings pitched. His 4.99 FIP (Field Independent Pitching) shows we may see even more regression from him in the future.

That's a big reason why I'm not willing to lay the big price on the Jays and instead, I'd rather take the OVER and root for an offensive shootout.
