It came as a surprise to everyone when the Toronto Blue Jays managed to draft Arjun Nimmala, with the 20th pick in the draft. Nimmala was considered a borderline top 10 prospect by MLB Pipeline, building up to the draft. There was certainly risk involved in the pick, as Nimmala was just 17 years old at the time, and a long journey away from reaching the major league level. Over a year later, and that initial promise is showing its dividends for the Blue Jays orginization.

After an early struggle for Nimmala in Single-A Dunedin, he was demoted to the Florida Complex League to iron out his development in a more confined space. He made his return back to A Ball in late June, and has been to finish out his season. Since June 27, Nimmala is slashing .265/.331/.564 with 13 home runs and a 146 wRC+ in 53 games. His raw power was considered one of his most elite tools, and that is being shown on full display recently.

As Nimmala embarks on his first full season in the organization, refining his plate discipline will be crucial, although his approach is already slightly ahead of what the Blue Jays anticipated when they drafted him. Unlocking his power is the priority, as it could be the defining factor in his success. Right now, Nimmala stands out as the most exciting position-player project in the system.

The hype surrounding Nimmala has begun to catch on to the rest of the league. New York Mets' Francisco Lindor had nothing to say but glowing remarks for the Jays 18-year-old prospect.

"His challenge is going to be to not try to be somebody else," said Lindor. "His challenge is going to be wanting to be great and always chasing that greatness.

Nimmala and Lindor belong to the same agency, SportsMeter, and have been working out together during the off-seasons. Nimmala had the chance to work closely alongside the MVP candidate, taking batting practice, playing catch, and fielding grounders. These experiences helped shape Nimmala, learning how he can move forward with his own development.

There is still a long road ahead for Nimmala's path the the major leagues, but seeing his steady progression on the field, along with a hearty endorsement from one of MLBs greatest players show just how much potential the Blue Jays have on their hands.
