With just a little less than three weeks to go before the start of the regular season for the Toronto Blue Jays, fans can begin to anticipate for another exciting, action-packed year ahead. Despite having a tumultuous offseason where some needs were adequately addressed while others remain ongoing question marks, the club will make the most of what they have put together and hopefully produce a winning product on the field in the end.

But on top of that, there are six big reasons why Jays’ fans should watch their favourite team closely in 2024. So what are they?

Bounce-back season for multiple players

Whether it was due to bad luck or actual regression in their abilities, the Jays had a few players that endured forgettable seasons in 2023. Most notably of course was former team ace Alek Manoah, but other reliable incumbents such as relievers Zach Pop and Yimi García, along with infielder Santiago Espinal suffered the same fate as well. All of them have proven to be strong, effective players in the past, so they are certainly looking to redeem themselves this coming year.

With both pitchers José Berríos and Yusei Kikuchi having shown success in recovering from a poor 2022 season with a stellar 2023 year, the Jays will hope for more of the same bounce-back for the aforementioned four players. Most importantly will be how Manoah ends up playing out, because if he re-establishes his prior dominant form, the Jays would then have a pretty much set starting rotation that could compete against any team in the league. However, if he doesn’t, then the Jays may be forced to find a suitable replacement quickly to keep them competitive enough to be in contention for 2024.
