The Cody Bellinger contract saga continues to grow, and it seems a certain media personality in baseball wants to see a drastic move made sooner than later.
At the time of this writing, the New York Yankees continue to wait on Bellinger's decision, and per MLB Insider Jim Bowden, he's mulling over multiple offers from multiple teams and "expected to make a decision shortly." Among the teams being speculated about are the New York Yankees, New York Mets, and Toronto Blue Jays, and one popular baseball personality host thinks Toronto needs to strike as soon as possible.
Scott Braun thinks the Blue Jays need to swoop in for Bellinger
Foul Territory TV's Scott Braun went on air today stating he believe the Blue Jays should make a move on Bellinger, especially after losing out on Kyle Tucker.
The Blue Jays can easily beat the Yankees for Cody Bellinger, says @ScottBraun.

"I do think [the Blue Jays] are seriously involved in someone like Cody Bellinger," said Braun. "They're losing outfielders after this coming season, and Belli's bat fits there.
"[The Blue Jays] were going after Kyle Tucker. This is going to cost them less," said Braun, and frankly, he's not wrong. Bellinger's anticipated contract could sit just north of $200 million, but spread out over a longer-term deal, meaning a lower AAV.
Bellinger flew under the radar over the last few weeks as the media focused on Tucker and Bo Bichette. Now that those two found their new homes, Bellinger emerged as the next top guy, and Braun seems to believe the Blue Jays can step up against the Yankees.
"The Blue Jays could easily beat the Yankees. The one thing we learned from these reports (unless they're totally off, and I don't think they are) is that the Yankees are sticking to their offer. They feel like they've offered him something nice, and I agree, but that doesn't mean the Blue Jays can't swoop in."
Bellinger fits for the Blue Jays in the same way Tucker did. He is a left-handed hitting outfieder who hits for power. In fact between Tucker, Bichette and Bellinger last season, Bellinger ended up with the most home runs (29) out of that group. A long term deal for Bellinger would also shield the Blue Jays from having a depleted outfield in 2027, as Daulton Varsho and George Springer are both set to hit the free agent market after 2026.
Earlier in the week, USA Today's Bob Nightengale reported Bellinger wants a deal that's at least seven years, and the Yankees currently have a five-year offer on the table. Should Bellinger continue to be persistent on a long-term deal, then Braun is absolutely right. The Blue Jays should swoop in immediately, and looks like Bellinger's decision is coming sooner than later.
