The 2025 Toronto Blue Jays just secured their 43rd comeback win of the season. No, that is not a typo, 43 comeback wins. Tonight's mark tied them with the Dodgers for the most comeback wins in the MLB, a stat that every Jays fan out there should be thrilled about. Not only that, but with tonight's comeback, after trailing 3-1 in the ninth, they now also lead the league with 23 comeback wins when trailing by multiple runs.
Toronto showed once again that every win seems to come with a little theatrics. John Schneider's wise words during the post-game press conference? "I need a beer."
Jays pull off their 43rd comeback win of the season in dramatic fashion
If the Jays want to play deep in October, these comeback wins will need to keep on coming at the rate they have been, as you simply cannot turn off your television; they are never truly "out of it." Once again, the depth came through, as tonight's unlikely heroes were Tyler Heineman and Isiah Kiner-Falefa with the supporting cast of Jeff Hoffman and Vladamir Guererro as well.
In the bottom of the ninth, the recently reunited Kiner-Falefa was up with the bases juiced and one out. On the one-one count, Abreu served up a hanging breaking ball that even a struggling batter like himself could not miss.

It took Hoffman just ten pitches in the top of the 10th to keep the Astos off the board. The highlight of the inning was Vladdy’s dart to third (which was his second-hardest throw of the season) which cut down Altuve on the base paths, who was running to third on contact.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr's throw to get Altuve at 3rd was his 2nd hardest throw of the season (not to mention gutsy and incredibly accurate) and his sprint speed down the line in the bottom of the 10th (29.4) was his 2nd best of the entire season. Two huge plays. #lightsupletsgo

The bottom of the 10th was where the magic happened, as the magician, Tyler Heineman (who has far surpassed his expectations this year), hit a hard grounder to the right side, which allowed Myles Straw to slide into home safely, securing yet another nerve-racking comeback win.

Not only is the product on the field nothing short of energizing, but this group seems fully bought in, every single one of them. The depth players, such as the likes of Heineman and Kiner-Falefa, continue to allow this team to overcome feats like tonight, day in and day out. The pesky Blue Jays have not had this many comeback victories in a single season since 1993. That 1993 team was pretty decent, if Jays fans recall.

Time and again, they’ve stared down late-inning deficits, only to inch their way back in dramatic fashion. It’s become a calling card and the identity for this year's team and perhaps the most dangerous weapon they’ll carry into October.
If you told Blue Jays fans in Spring Training that Isiah Kiner-Falefa would deliver a game-saving hit in September to help them secure the AL East lead, they'd look at you like you had a third eyeball attached to your forehead. And as if Tuesday's victory couldn't get sweeter for Jays fans, the Yankees got blown out 12-2, moments after Buck Martinez ripped the Yankees to shreds on the broadcast.
"The Yankees, they're not a good team. I don't care what their record is. They have a lot of wild pitches. They make a lot of mistakes in the field. They don't run the bases very well." - Blue Jays commentator Buck Martinez calls down the thunder 🔥 pic.twitter.com/hlnIpP0ygr
