The Toronto Blue Jays are now a win away from capturing the 2025 World Series after a commanding 6-1 Game 5 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. The series shifts back to Toronto Friday night, and it's all hands on deck, no matter what it takes to win.
Those words echo true to Blue Jays infielder Bo Bichette. After the final month of the regular season was filled with injury and missing both the ALDS and ALCS, Bichette is up to the plate in the World Series. In a recent interview with The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal, Bichette stated he'll do whatever it takes to help the Blue Jays.
Bichette wants to "risk it all" for a ring
Bichette has been riddled with a left knee sprain for nearly two months. That Sept. 6th game in New York against the Yankees shifted the Blue Jays' plans going into the Postseason and en route to the World Series. Despite making it to the Fall Classic, there's no doubt the Blue Jays needed the bat of their hitting machine.
In speaking with Rosenthal, Bichette stated his knee has continued to bug him and doesn't expect it to get any better, but doesn't want to let that hold him back. "Iām not really expecting to make huge progress while Iām playing,ā said Bichette. "I'm doing what I can. I'll risk it all [for a World Series win]."
And Bichette certainly is doing what he can, especially after he hit a crucial RBI-single in the seventh inning to give Toronto a 5-1 lead in Game 5.

Before the start of Wednesday night's game, Bichette had four hits in 13 plate appearances with two RBIs, batting .364 and an on-base percentage of .462. He's also seen his first MLB appearance at second base to help minimize his range and alleviate the pain. He eventually settled as the team's designated hitter following George Springer's injury in Game 3.
Rosenthal also noted that Bichette stated if he does suffer a setback with his knee, he'll accept a short-term deal and try to rebuild his value at age 28. Bo is expected to hit free agency at the conclusion of the World Series. Whatever the case may be, Bichette is contributing on baseball's biggest stage, and that could be enough for a title.
