The Toronto Blue Jays have already put together a productive and eventful offseason to date with the moves that they have made during the past couple of months. The Blue Jays have significantly strengthened their starting rotation with the big free agent signings of former Cy Young finalist Dylan Cease and 2025 KBO MVP Cody Ponce. Moreover, they have added some solid bullpen upgrades with the recruitment of Tyler Rogers from the free agent market and the acquisition of Chase Lee in a trade with their American League rivals Detroit Tigers.
As a result, the Blue Jays have made prominent improvements to their entire pitching staff heading into the 2026 MLB season. But to cap off what could turn out to be an absolute dream offseason for Toronto, there is much work left to be done with respect to the team’s hitting and offense going forward.
Here is how the Blue Jays can finish off a dream offseason
It all starts and ends with top free agents Kyle Tucker and Bo Bichette. MLB insiders have already previously predicted that the Blue Jays will swing for the fences this winter, so it is about time that they make it happen.
Of all of the players remaining in free agency, there is no player with the greatest ceiling and upside as that of Tucker. After all, he possesses all of the skills and talent to be a five-tool superstar while entering his prime just about now. With the ability to average 100 runs scored, 30 home runs, 100 RBIs, 25 stolen bases per season while batting over .270 with an .850+ OPS, together with an above average plate discipline and a career .989 fielding percentage with 36 DRS in the field.

Tucker can do it all and he'll be going into his age-29 season. More importantly, adding the star outfielder to pair with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. would give the Blue Jays a frightening combo not seen since the José Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion duo over a decade ago.
However, to complete the Blue Jays’ offseason with no regrets, it is just as crucial to lock down Bichette to keep him as part of the main core of their contending puzzle. Yes, Toronto can resort to some internal solutions as a replacement for the star shortstop, or perhaps even explore external rumored options such as Alex Bregman from free agency and Ketel Marte from the trade market.
But for someone that has been one of the best pure hitters in all of baseball entering his prime, while often coming up big in the clutch as well, there will be no one that could truly replace the value that Bichette brings to the franchise.
It’s certainly not everyday that you can find a homegrown shortstop like Bichette that could hit .300 with 100+ runs scored, 20+ home runs and 100+ RBIs on a consistent yearly basis. More significantly, with the camaraderie and bond that he has built up with the club, added to the potential that he could get even better in the coming years, he is a rare asset that Toronto can ill-afford to let go. As a result, bringing back the Blue Jays fan favourite is an absolute must for this dream offseason to go down as one of the best in team history.
Once the Jays manage to accomplish both feats, any addition moves or transactions would just be icing on the cake. After all, their offense and pitching staff would be confidently ready to take on anyone in the league from here on out as a result.
